I know I have.

So here’s why this magic morning means so much to me.

It all started because of something that happened after I had finished this painting. Everything looked good, but inside I felt zilch. Nada. No fire. No joy, No connection.

I realised I had stopped making art for myself…

I just plonked the painting away on a shelf and left it.

I stopped painting.

But then one morning back in the dead of winter, something happened that changed everything.

Anyway it’s absolutely Baltic outside, and of course, no lie-in for me as the dogs have to go out, so I get wrapped up like Scott of the Antarctic and out we go.

There I am out before sunrise and I have this moment.

We’re walking the usual path along the canal and the dawn sky started doing this amazing thing—like, full-on performance mode. Pinks, oranges, deep reds. It was like someone tie dyed the sky.

I mean I just stopped and stared, I couldn’t move or look away.

Now I’ve seen some belting sunrises, but this one?

This one hit different, like a slap up side the head.

Everything was still. Not quiet, like “nothing’s happening” quiet. But a deep soul kind of quiet.

And something finally clicked into place in me.

I stayed watching until the rising sun finally turned the sky blue and the colours faded and by then I was colder than a brass monkey and the dogs were stood there giving me a funny look.

So anyway I get back home and thaw out and I get straight into my studio.

Inspired by the wonderful sky, I just started painting…

Not thinking about what would sell, or what looked fancy. Just trying to get that magic moment out of my head and onto canvas.

It was like the old me—the one who used to make stuff just because it felt good—was back. Like she popped in and went, “Oi, remember this?”

And the pieces just kept coming.

This is how this collection happened. No grand plan. Just truth and authentic emotions.

It’s not perfect. But it’s real.

And if you look at it and only see some nice colours, that’s fine. But what I hope is that you feel something of what I felt in that magic moment.
